How does pharmacopuncture differ from acupuncture?

Acupuncture provides physical stimulation at acupuncture points and in tissues. Pharmacopuncture also delivers a prepared extract from herbal or other medicinal materials. The actual preparation, site and amount all matter.

How does it differ from oral herbal medicine or an IV?

Oral herbal medicine is digested and absorbed; an IV delivers fluids or medicines through a vein. Pharmacopuncture delivers a prepared extract at selected acupuncture points or treatment sites. It uses a preparation made for injection; the ingredients and your condition guide the choice of care.

Where is pharmacopuncture administered?

Sites are selected after examination. Anatomy, symptom-provoking movements, movement and strength or sensory findings, and safety guide the plan. We explain the proposed sites during your visit.

Can similar symptoms lead to different treatment sites?

Yes. We assess the pain location alongside muscle, joint and nerve function and symptom-provoking movements. Examination findings determine the treatment sites, which we adjust as we review your response.
